About Me

My husband, Jason, and I have been married for 20+ years and have seven children. Princess and Sunshine are 16 years old; Cupcake, LoveBug and Ri-Bear are 11; BoBo is 9 and NiNi is 2 . I have been caring for children since my young teen years. First as a babysitter and then as a church nursery worker. When I was a Freshman in high school, I directed my first of 5 children’s theaters at the local Opera House which put 40 children between the 1st & 8th grade in my care for 2 ½ hours 5 days a week. As a senior in high school I worked with the youth in my church and did this through college as well. After Jason and I were married I started doing childcare out of our home and did so until we moved to Spearfish. Shortly after moving here our daughter was born and so I decided to take a break, three months later our son came into our lives. Pumpkin Patch Daycare opened on October 28th, 2008 and Closed on November 23rd, 2016.

Pumpkin Patch Daycare believes a child's early experiences enrich and stimulate future growth. Children deserve to be treated and respected as individuals in an environment that welcomes reason, exploration, question, and imagination. We respect each childn's need for love, security, acceptance, warmth, and stimulation.

Goals

While in my care your child will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities, which promote all aspects of development. Family childcare provides for children the comfort and experience of belonging to an extended family. I provide a home like setting, therefore I do not follow a strict routine. My approach to childcare is child directed. Children are offered choices whenever possible.

Weather Information & Policy

As a daycare with mostly non school aged children, it was difficult deciding how to determine when the weather is bad enough to close. Last year for part of the year we went with when they closed the interstate, but not really knowing in advance just seemed like there were times that we were pushing it to the last minute for safe travel. So this winter season we have decided to be closed when the school is closed. A late start will not effect the Patchs hours of operation, but an early release due to weather will. Upon hearing school is closed it automatically means we will be closed....and if they release early the best plan would be to make arrangements to have your children picked up by a half an hour after the release time or before.

There are two main reasons we do this, the first being your and your childs safety. We do not want you out driving on roads that may or may not be safe because of daycare. The second being that we do not have all of what your child would need should he or she be stranded here over night...and because of a previous instance I do need to make mention that if your child does become snowed in at the Patch there will be a $50 charge per night of them being here. Some children are on perscriptions that we do not have here and so it is just in everyones best interest to keep an eye on the weather and be safe!

I have two websites that I check often during winter weather days. The first is safe travel USA which tells you safe driving conditions and they keep it updated pretty well! The second would be KeloLand.com which is a way of finding out school closings by going to the clotheline link on the left side of the site!

I do want to make clear that if there is an early pick up due to weather you will not be charged for the remainder of the day...and if snow days cause a regular full time client to fall below the hours needed for the discount you will not be charged the higher price.

Anniversary

Today is the Pumpkin Patch Dacyares 1st anniversary! October 28th 2008 was the day we opened our doors to our first client! Anyone here longer than 2 hours today will get 1 hour free in celebration of this!

Rate are per pumpkin, depending on pumpkins age...

Birth ~ 11 months

Full Time: $2.25/hr

Part Time: $2.75/hr

12 ~ 23 months

Full Time: $2.50/hr

Part Time: $3.00/hr

24 months & up

Full Time: $2.75/hr

Part Time: $3.25/hr

Before School

$3.50 a day

After School

$3.00/hr

Drop Ins:

$4.00 an hour, $16.00 minimum

*Part time~ Contracted time slot less than 30 hours a week

*Full time~ Contracted time slot of more than 30 hours a week

*If you have more than one in your family you pay full price for the oldest child and each younger child will receive a $0.25/hour discount!

**This includes Breakfast, Lunch, Snack, and all crafts that we do. There will not be anything that you will be hearing that we need extra money for field trips, crafts, food, or anything. These prices are all includsive!
