About Me

My husband, Jason, and I have been married for 20+ years and have seven children. Princess and Sunshine are 16 years old; Cupcake, LoveBug and Ri-Bear are 11; BoBo is 9 and NiNi is 2 . I have been caring for children since my young teen years. First as a babysitter and then as a church nursery worker. When I was a Freshman in high school, I directed my first of 5 children’s theaters at the local Opera House which put 40 children between the 1st & 8th grade in my care for 2 ½ hours 5 days a week. As a senior in high school I worked with the youth in my church and did this through college as well. After Jason and I were married I started doing childcare out of our home and did so until we moved to Spearfish. Shortly after moving here our daughter was born and so I decided to take a break, three months later our son came into our lives. Pumpkin Patch Daycare opened on October 28th, 2008 and Closed on November 23rd, 2016.

Daycare Poem

Partnership

They bring their child to me
and hope I'll come to know.
How much the offspring means to them,
their trust in me bestowed.

They bring their child to me
with love and hope and pride,
looking for a helping hand,
a teacher who will guide.

They bring their child to me,
and our partnership is clear:
To nurture and allow to bloom
a life we both hold dear.

They bring their child to me,
a step toward letting go
and trusting in our special plan
to help the child grow.

As a daycare provider, you must allow each and every child in your care into your heart.  You need to love on the children and love children period!  I have only been 'officially' Pumpkin Patch Daycare for 2 1/2 years now, but I have fell in love with a good number of children in that time.  Each little personality that blooms month to month is amazing to me.  It is really fun to watch a little one 'grow up' in front of you, but it makes it that much more difficult to say good-bye.  It happens eventually, I mean children will not be in daycare forever.  Some choose to go to pre-school earlier than other, some wait for Kindergarden, and others move away.  Whatever the reason, when one of my Pumpkins leaves they take a piece of my heart with them!  I got news today that my last of 'original Pumpkins' that have been with me from the beginning will be starting pre-school in two weeks and I had a hard time not crying when her mom told me this!  She is such a gentle sweetheart!  Both her and her sister will be missed at the Patch!

On that note we will have two openings at the Patch starting in April.
